College Scholarships… deadlines approaching

What an important time in the life of our High School Seniors this Spring will be… don’t let these deadlines slip past you though! 10 Scholarships worth $10,000 will be awarded. Let’s get our nominations in early… if you need help preparing an application, speak with your Scoutmaster!


Nominate an Eagle Scout for the Clarice Bagwell Eagle Scout Scholarship.

To be eligible, the Eagle Scout must:
-be a High School Senior this year (2010-2011)
-have already earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Northeast Georgia Council
-commit to attending college or another post-secondary school this upcoming fall (2011)

Applications must be turned in to the Jefferson Service Center by March 26, 2011.

5 $1,000 Scholarships will be awarded at the 2011 Eagle Banquet on Tuesday May 3.



The Northeast Georgia Council will award 5 Young American Awards this spring.

All of these qualifications must be met:
• Be a graduating senior (from High School) in 2011.
• Be currently registered with the Northeast Georgia Council in a Troop, Team, Crew, or Post, or as an adult leader.
• Have achieved exceptional excellence in one or more such fields as art, athletics, business, community service, education, government, humanities, literature, music, religion, or science.
• Have been involved in service to their community, state, or country that adds to the quality of life.
• Have maintained an above-average scholastic grade point average.  Provide a copy of current school transcript with application.
• Provide at least three (3) letters of recommendation from troop, post, crew, or group leader, individual, teacher, counselor, employer, civic, professional, or community leader, etc. with the application

Applications must be accompanied by 3 letters and most current transcript and received before Thursday, March 31, 2011.
