Scouting 101 – just the fundamentals!

25 Apr

Greetings Scouts –

I wanted to share with you a cool opportunity for younger Scouts to earn some really cool Merit Badges locally this Summer at Scoutland 101 during the week of June 13-17. Scouts can earn a Merit Badge in one day when they come to Scoutland. A couple of cool points:

  1. You pick the day!
  2. You pick the Merit Badge!
  3. Arrive at Scoutland a little before 9:00AM
  4. By 4PM your day is done and you’ve earned a Merit Badge!
  5. the day costs only $15*

Come join us for 1 or MORE days out at the Lake this summer and you can earn one or more of these Merit Badges:

  • Basketry/Leatherwork (TWO FOR ONE!!!)
  • First Aid (EAGLE REQUIRED!)
  • Swimming (EAGLE REQUIRED!)
  • Rifle
  • Archery
  • Woodcarving
  • Communications (EAGLE REQUIRED!)

Now is the time to sign up! Download the 101 flyer and get signed up today!

Scoutland is on Lake Lanier in Gainesville on a 120 acre peninsula that lies between Hwy’s 53(Dawsonville Hwy)¬†and 60(Thompson Bridge Rd) about 30 minutes from the heart of our District (in other words… convenient!). Come out and experience the Lake in Summer time…

See you out there!

Summer is right around the corner and I’ve already had a few leaders ask me questions about how to conduct successful swim tests for some of their boys… of course I have my opinion and I am always happy to discuss this issue because I’ve had plenty of practice and I’ve seen what works… but here’s a good article in your ole’ Scouting Magazine this month that you’ll find helpful:
