A Generations Connection – The Etowah Centennial Tree

30 Aug

Last Saturday in a quiet, humble ceremony at the Forsyth County Schools Administration building, the Etowa

h District dedicated its Centennial Tree as a part of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America’s generations connections. To further celebrate 100 years of Scouting, the BSA has planted a Red Maple tree in front of the Forsyth County Schools
Administration building and marked the occasion of the 100th Anniversary (which took place on February 8, 2010) with a granite stone marker. The tree was originally planted in March of this year, and was donated by a group of Scouts from the Northeast Georgia Council. Dr. Ed Brown, a member of the 100th Anniversary Committee for the Northeast Georgia Council, consulted with the Board of Education and the Superintendent’s office on where to plant the tree in our community.

For generations, Scouting has been an important part of the growing lives of young men in communities across our country, and especially here in Forsyth, Dawson, and Lumpkin Counties. We are proud to dedicate this tree in hon

or of Scouting’s traditions as a way to connect our values and the boys of today with the next 100 years of Scouting and the leaders they will become!

At the celebration, Scouts were joined by District Chairman David Waggomann and District Executives Daniel Victorio and Isaac Trotter as well as Superintendent and Northeast Georgia Council Boy Scout Executive Board Member Dr. L.C. “Buster” Evans.

Be sure to remember those who are in harms way to protect our freedom too and keep their families in your prayers… (how are you spending 4th of July? answer our poll on Facebook! http://on.fb.me/bX2Ggl)
